Abstract

Elements of plasma physics and fluid turbulence are introduced in this chapter on the introductory level. These are theoretical building blocks for highlighting plasma turbulence in the solar system as well as astrophysical systems as a challenge in physics. Emphasis in plasma physics is on the fluid picture, called magnetohydrodynamics, and similarities and differences are discussed between magnetohydrodynamics and fluid turbulence.
