A Case Study for the DeciMaS Framework

Abstract

A case study for environmental impact assessment upon human health is presented in this chapter. Research has been carried out with the aim to demonstrate the possibilities of DeciMaS framework and its ability to manage complex problems. This chapter presents an example of using the DeciMaS with the aim of developing a decision support system for impact assessment upon human health evaluation. Meta-ontology of the domain of interest, the system itself and its mapping are presented in the chapter. The relationship between environment and human health is considered so complex that it has been decided to face it as the case study. Indeed, to date environmental impact assessment is still a hot research topic. In addition, a multi-agent architecture for a decision support system is shown. The meta-ontology of the system, consisting of the models for Ontology of Environment, Ontology of MAS Architecture, Ontology of Agents, Ontology of Interactions and Ontology of Tasks is fully detailed. The sequence of the steps for the DeciMaS framework design with Prometheus Development Kit is introduced. In this sense, the following principal abstractions of the agent-based decision support system are shown: goals and scenarios, actors, roles, data and interaction, and agents. Its implementation with Jack Development Environment is presented as well.
