Anfang der 1990er Jahre wurde durch den Hollywood-Film »Das Schweigen der Lämmer« der breiten Öffentlichkeit eine neue kriminalistische Methode bekannt: das Profiling – die Erstellung von Täterprofilen in Sexual- und Serienmordfällen.
