Environmental Permitting Constraints on Arctic Marine Scientific Research
Scientific access to a nation's exclusive economic zone (‘EEZ’) presumes permission to collect data in those waters. The process for obtaining permission is laid out in international law, particularly the law of the sea, and implemented in some form by each of the five Arctic coastal States in their own national permitting processes.
