Abstract
The present thesis deals with an issue that has become more and more important during the last decades: Submarine oil and gas pipelines and marine environmental protection. Submarine pipelines connect either offshore installations with other offshore or land structures or they serve as a transport medium to transport oil or gas from one coast to another.
