Abstract
China feeds the 21% of the world’s population, while China’s land resources account for 6.4% of the worlds. The contradiction between man and land is the basic national conditions that China has to face. Comparing with other countries, China is one of the countries with the sharpest man-land-contradiction. Although having made remarkable achievements for years, China has outstanding problems on the development and utilization of land resources, such as rapid decrease in arable land, the low levels of construction land intensive use, lack of ecological land, grim situation of land degradation, lack of arable land reserve resources etc., which seriously impact the sustainable use of land resources. To solve these problems, this paper proposes some countermeasures, such as perfecting a more scientific mechanism supporting the land resources, building a mechanism for evaluation and restriction on the intensive use of urban construction land, a coordination mechanism on maintaining the ecological balance of land and improving the evaluation mechanism of land-use efficiency.
