Abstract

In this paper, we analyze the outage performance of decode-and-forward selection cooperation systems, under a fixed-gain relay setting, in independent but not identically distributed Nakagami-m fading channels at arbitrary signal-to-noise ratios (SNRs) and number of available relays. In particular, an exact closed-form expression for the outage performance is derived employing partial relay selection in the first-hop transmission. Our analysis extends previous results pertaining to identically distributed fading channels under an adaptive relay setting. Furthermore, simulation and numerical results are presented to show the validity of the analytical results.
