Abstract

The beauty of mathematics is found everywhere, particularly in modern sports. We’d like to demonstrate something here with the help of a little example that might actually come as a surprise to some of you; while it’s quite well known among experts, the public at large probably isn’t aware of it. It’s a problem that occurs when one is throwing a discus or a hammer or even doing a shot put. But if it’s ignored, it could easily cost the athlete a victory.
