Die Resultate über Operatoren auf Banachräumen, die in diesem Kapitel vorgestellt werden, beruhen auf einem Prinzip über vollständige metrische Räume, das 1899 von R. Baire (im Fall des Rⁿ) entdeckt wurde. Dieses Bairesche Kategorienprinzip wird nun als erstes vorgestellt.
