Zusammenfassung
Die Brust ist ektodermalen Ursprungs. Intrauterin wird beidseits des Thorax und des Abdomens eine Milchleiste angelegt, von der beim Menschen i. d. R. je eine Brustanlage pro Seite erhalten bleibt. Die fetale Brust ist eine knotige Region von unterschiedlicher Größe. Das Drüsengewebe reagiert auf die mütterlichen Hormone. Es lassen sich entsprechende Veränderungen an den Drüsenkämmen nachweisen. Nach der Geburt kommt es zur Involution des Gewebes, die mit dem 2. Lebensjahr abgeschlossen ist (Howard u. Gusterson 2000; Naccarato et al. 2000; ► Abschn. 4.6).
