Zusammenfassung

Die Osteoporose ist eine Skeletterkrankung, bei der ein starker Knochenmasseverlust zu einer unzureichenden Knochenfestigkeit und somit zu einem erhöhten Frakturrisiko führt. In Deutschland waren im Jahr 2003 7,8 Mio. Menschen von einer Osteoporose betroffen [1]. Die Gefahr einer osteoporoseassoziierten Fraktur nimmt mit zunehmendem Alter exponentiell zu. Die erhöhte Frakturgefahr äußert sich zum einem in spontanen Wirbelkörperfrakturen und zum anderen in peripheren Frakturen (z. B. proximaler Femur, Humerus oder Radius), die fast immer durch einen Sturz zustande kommen. Die funktionelle Therapie der Osteoporose richtet sich auf Schmerzlinderung, Verbesserung des Knochenstoffwechsels und Verminderung des Sturzrisikos.
