Abstract
In the previous chapters, we have considered the case of frequency flat-fading channels. In this chapter, we extend the bounds on the achievable rate derived in Chapter 3 to the case of frequency-selective (wideband) channels. To get to a mathematically tractable discrete-time discrete-frequency system model, we use the approach given in [33] which is a fairly general model for an underspread wide-sense stationary uncorrelated scattering (WSSUS) scenario. For a self contained exposition, we here recall the derivation of this model, which is given in [33], and which is based on the continuous-time input-output relation of the actual channel.
