Abstract
Tinnitus is a “sound in one ear or both ears, such as buzzing, ringing, or whistling, occurring without an external stimulus” (AMERICAN HERITAGE DICTIONARY 2000). Tinnitus can be classified as pulsatile (coinciding with the heartbeat) or continuous, and subjective (perceived only by the patient) or objective (perceptible to another person).
