Zusammenfassung
Am Beginn der neuropsychologischen Rehabilitation steht das subjektive Erleben der Patienten. Dieses subjektive Erleben muss bei der neuropsychologischen Untersuchung und bei der Planung rehabilitativer Maßnahmen berücksichtigt werden. Erlebt der Patient die neuropsychologische Untersuchung oder das Rehabilitationsprogramm nicht zumindest zu einem gewissen Grad als hilfreich, dann wird er zu einer Mitarbeit nicht bereit sein oder nur passiv an den Therapien teilnehmen. Deshalb betont das erste Prinzip der neuropsychologischen Rehabilitation die Notwendigkeit, das phänomenoloqische Feld bzw. das subjektive Erleben des Patienten zu verstehen. Das Erleben des Patienten ist häufig durch Verwirrung und Frustration gekennzeichnet. Schaffen wires, unsere Therapie darauf auszurichten, diese Frustration und Verwirrung zu reduzieren, dann wird der Patient — unabhängig davon, ob die rehabilitativen Maßnahmen tatsächlich seine höheren Hirnfunktionen verbessern oder nicht — motiviert mitarbeiten.

Meine Besucher waren der lebende Beweis meiner Defizite, da ich ihren Besuch sofort wiedervergaß, wenn sie gegangen waren. Ich leugnete auch, dass sie überhaupt da gewesen wären, wenn ich danach gefragt wurde. Große Sorgen bereitete mir das Stöhnen der Patienten, die mit mir die Intensivstation teilten. Ich versuchte, mich um sie zu kümmern wie ein gesunder Arzt“ (LaBaw 1969, S. 176f).
„Aus der Sicht der modernen Psychologie stellen die höheren psychischen Funktionen des Menschen komplizierte reflektorische Prozesse dar, die hinsichtlich ihres Ursprungs sozial, hinsichtlich ihrer Struktur mittelbar und bezüglich ihrer Funktionsweise willkürlich sind“ (Luria 1966, S. 49).
