Abstract
During the diagnostic process in assessing forefoot deformities, every clinical and radiographic parameter influences the decision for or against a certain treatment. These single parameters stand interdependently and have to be weighted according their influence on a certain surgical procedure and their importance for the expectations of the patient.
On the other hand the multitude of surgical procedures for different forefoot deformities like hallux valgus, hallux rigidus, metatarsalgia and hammer toes have varying surgical impact on those clinical and radiographic parameters. So the clinician has to combine assessment of clinical symptoms, radiographic parameters and knowledge about the influence of surgical procedures during decision-making for forefoot surgery.
