Abstract
Wavefront optometers, whether they are based on wavefront sensing or ray tracing, are rapidly changing the manner in which refractive error is diagnosed and treated. For the first time, the clinician can measure, and therefore potentially correct, the higher order aberrations of the eye. Laser refractive surgeries based on wavefront measurements are yielding exceptional visual results. Wavefront-based diagnosis and corrections will undoubtedly become the standard for improving refractive outcomes whether they are done with lenses or surgical procedures.
