42V-PowerNet: Status of Development, Requirements and Perspective

  • Chapter
Book cover 42 V-PowerNets

Abstract

The transition from a 12 V electrical vehicle system to a 42V-PowerNet is probably the most revolutionary change for electrical power distribution in decades. Many recent announcements in magazines, newspapers and various technical congresses and exhibitions forecast the introduction of 42 V components or even complete 42 V electrical systems in the near future.

The expectation is that nearly every automotive manufacturer will introduce a new vehicle using a 42V-PowerNet by the end of this decade.
