Abstract
Traumatic injuries are the main causes of morbidity and mortality in children up to the age of 14 years. Most of these deaths occur as a result of a combination of severe head, thoracic, abdominal, and/or skeletal trauma. Severe head injury is associated with the highest morbidity and mortality rates. Significant trauma in children up to the age of 5 years is most often caused by a fall from height at home.
