Zusammenfassung
Die Lungenembolie (LE) ist definiert als partieller oder kompletter Verschluss einer oder mehrerer Lungenarterien, der am häufigsten durch Blutkoagel hervorgerufen wird. Der Embolus stammt in den meisten Fällen aus Thrombosen im tiefen Venensystem der unteren Extremitäten und des kleinen Beckens. In Abhängigkeit von der Anzahl und Größe der verschlossenen Gefäße kann eine akute LE entweder ohne klinische Symptome auftreten oder zu einem akuten Rechtsherzversagen führen und dann tödlich enden.
