Zusammenfassung
Die (Psycho-)Endokrinologie ist ein faszinierendes Forschungs-und Arbeitsfeld, in dem in den letzten Jahrzehnten mit gro.em Output neue Erkenntnisse uber Hormone und deren Funktionen publiziert wurden. Ein Ende der Entdeckung neuer Botenstoffe und Hormone ist in der Tier-und Humanphysiologie nicht absehbar. Die Vielzahl und Ausdiff erenzierung neuer Messmethoden sowie die Bereitschaft zu einer interdisziplinaren Betrachtung physiologischer Systeme ermoglicht die Aufk larung (patho)-physiologischer Mechanismen, die nicht nur das Verstandnis fur Wirkungsweisen physiologischer Systeme vergro.ern, sondern auch menschliches Verhalten erklarbarer werden lassen. Eine Konsequenz dieser fortlaufend neue Erkenntnisse produzierenden Forschung ist jedoch die Erfahrung, dass Befunde, die vor 20 Jahren noch als eindeutig und klar erschienen, durch neue Erkenntnisse haufig zu relativieren sind und der Eindruck entsteht, man wisse aufgrund der Komplexitat endokriner Systeme heute weniger als vor 20 Jahren.
