Zusammenfassung
Intensivmedizin hat ohne jeden Zweifel entscheidenden Anteil an wesentlichen Fortschritten in der modernen Medizin. Interventionen, die heute für uns zum selbstverständlichen Standard medizinischer Versorgung gehören, wären ohne die technischen Möglichkeiten einer modernen intensivmedizinischen Versorgung nicht möglich. Die Überwachung und Aufrechterhaltung von Organfunktionen mittels differenzierter medikamentöser und technischer Unterstützung bis hin zum vollständigen Organersatz stellen wesentliche Meilensteine in der Geschichte der Medizin dar.
