Zusammenfassung
Hirntumoren treten entweder als primäre Erkrankungen des Nervensystems oder sekundär als Komplikation metastatischer, primär extrazerebraler Tumorerkrankungen auf. Die Prognose der primären Tumoren ist in Abhängigkeit von Histologie und Erkrankungsalter sehr unterschiedlich. Etwa 20 % aller Patienten mit extrazerebralen Tumoren entwickeln Hirnmetastasen. Diese tragen erheblich zur Morbidität bei und sind eine häufige Todesursache.
