Zusammenfassung
In diesem Kapitel werden die Bedeutung neuer Werkstoffe für den Standort Deutschland skizziert und wichtige Grundlagen für die Folgekapitel des Buches gelegt. So werden wichtige Begrifflichkeiten geklärt, der Innovationsprozess neuer Werkstoffe vorgestellt und das sektorübergreifende Forschungs- und Innovationsfeld neuer Werkstoffe detailliert aufgearbeitet. Weiterhin werden die Rolle neuer Werkstoffe für komplexe Produkte und Systeme thematisiert und die Besonderheiten des Projekt- und Kostenmanagements sowie des Managements verteilter Teams bei Werkstoff-Innovationsprojekten betrachtet. Abschließend gehen mehrere Teilkapitel auf die Anforderungen an einen erfolgreichen Wissenstransfer, die typischen Konflikte und Barrieren in Werkstoff-Innovationsprojekten zwischen der öffentlichen Forschung und der Industrie sowie das Management des geistigen Eigentums in diesen Projekten ein.

Wichtige weitere Stakeholder sind Kunden, Kooperationspartner des Unternehmens, Zulieferer, Mitarbeiter und die Öffentlichkeit.
