Zusammenfassung

Schock bezeichnet die gemeinsame Endstrecke unterschiedlicher Erkrankungen, charakterisiert durch ein Herz-Kreislauf-Versagen mit vielfältigen Ursachen und Angriffspunkten, häufig mit letalem Ausgang. Schockfolge ist eine tief greifende und ausgedehnte Reduktion der effektiven Durchblutung und/oder eine schwere Beeinträchtigung essenzieller Zellfunktionen lebenswichtiger Organe, zunächst reversibel (MODS) und schließlich mit irreversibler Zellschädigung.
