Part of the book series: Pediatric Oncology ((PEDIATRICO))

Abstract

Pediatric Liver tumors are one of the rarer tumors that exist. Therefore, historically speaking, their management and treatment has lagged behind the more common ones such as neuroblastoma and Wilms’, and only recently, they have been studied more systematically. Before the advent of chemotherapy and multidisciplinary treatment, surgery was the only treatment option, but the outcome was generally poor. Thus, only anecdotal reports exist, mainly by individuals from the early founding children’s hospitals.

Hence, understandably, the main focus of this chapter is on past national and international trials by the various specialized pediatric oncology societies that are involved in them.
