Radiological Anatomy for FRCR Part 1

Abstract

The IVC should lie to the right of the aorta. In this case, no IVC is seen in the usual position and the left renal vein can be seen to join the IVC to the left of the aorta. Left-sided IVC is seen in 0.2–0.5% and is due to persistence of the left and regression of the right supracardinal vein.
