Abstract

The category of miscellaneous axis fractures was introduced by Hadley (1985) to cover all non-odontoid and non-hangman like fractures. These “non-classifiable C2 injuries” represent about one quarter of all C2 fractures. The treatment depends on surgeon’s assessment of the fracture stability and ranges from various types of external support to surgical reconstruction and stabilization.
