Zusammenfassung

Die erfolgreiche Versorgung von Patienten mit multiplem Trauma hängt nicht nur von den Kenntnissen der Unfallkinematik, lebensrettenden Sofortmaßnahmen sowie einem von einem Generalisten geführten interdisziplinären Team mit spezialisierten Ärzten für die Therapie von Einzelverletzungen und intensivmedizinischen Interventionen ab – eine große Rolle spielt auch die Respektierung pathophysiologischer Vorgänge in ihrem zeitlichen Ablauf. Daher ist das Verständnis der Traumapathogenese im Sinne einer systemischen Krankheit, deren Ausprägung u. a. mit der Behandlung in Zusammenhang steht, für den interdisziplinären Abklärungs- und Versorgungsplan entscheidend. Werden die entsprechenden Grundregeln nicht befolgt, kann es zu lebensgefährlichen Störungen primär nicht verletzter Organe und Organsysteme kommen.
