Zusammenfassung
Reizkonfrontationsverfahren, in der Literatur auch als Expositionsverfahren oder Exposition mit Reaktionsverhinderung bzw. Reaktionsmanagement (ERM) bezeichnet, gehören heute zu den psychotherapeutischen Standardverfahren, vor allem bei der Behandlung von Ängsten, Zwängen, Essstörungen, posttraumatischer Belastungsstörung und Abhängigkeitserkrankungen (Neudeck & Wittchen, 2005). Es handelt sich dabei nicht um ein homogenes und feststehendes Verfahren, sondern eher um eine vielgestaltige Verfahrensgruppe, die verschiedene Techniken umfasst. Diese werden je nach Problemlage und Störungsbild als Therapiebausteine in ein Gesamtkonzept integriert. Hinter Verfahrensbezeichnungen wie kognitive Verhaltenstherapie, strategische Kurzzeittherapie oder rational-emotive Therapie verbergen sich also häufig auch mehr oder weniger viele Elemente einer Konfrontationstherapie.
