Guidelines for Nuclear Image Analysis

  • Chapter

Abstract

The strength of nuclear imaging is based on its ability to reveal quantitative information. Especially positron emission tomography (PET) offers, as long as all corrections, such as for photon attenuation, scatter and partial volume effect are applied, highly quantitative data. This chapter describes the different pitfalls in PET image analysis and necessary correction methods to yield quantitative images. Furthermore, it provides practical recipes for quantitative image analysis.
