Zusammenfassung

Ist Qualität in der Medizin überhaupt messbar, wenn mehr als rein naturwissenschaftliche Fragestellungen vorliegen? Die Medizin und vor allem die Rehabilitation hat sich vielen Problemen zu stellen, die den naturwissenschaftlichen Rahmen sprengen. Die Frage, welche Relationen zwischen Quantität und Qualität bestehen, beschäftigt die Naturwissenschaft und Philosophie bis heute. Das Exaktheitsideal, das in der Naturwissenschaft herrscht, geht von der Funktionsfähigkeit und Aussagekraft zählbarer Kriterien aus. Was aber tun, wenn das Persönlichkeitsmerkmal, das Störungsbild oder die Qualität in der rehabilitativen Arbeit nicht einfach zähl- und messbar sind? Dann wird gerne als wissenschaftlich irrelevant erklärt, was sich durch Messinstrumente nicht erfassen lässt. Die Rehabilitation bewegt sich im Spannungsfeld zwischen dem naturwissenschaftlichen Exaktheitsideal einerseits und unzureichend erfassbaren Wertvorstellungen wie Lebensqualität, Befindlichkeit und Gesundheit andererseits.
