Zusammenfassung

Eine Vielzahl neurologischer Erkrankungen kann über Läsionen des zentralen und peripheren Nervensystems die Sexualität beeinflussen, andererseits führen die unterschiedlichen neurologischen Symptome und deren Behandlung (z.B. Medikamente) ebenfalls zu sexuellen Funktionsstörungen. Die psychosozialen Grundbedürfnisse nach Akzeptanz, Nähe und Geborgenheit, die in besonderem Maße durch sexuelle Kommunikation erfüllt werden, erlangen bei krankheitsbedingter Hilfebedürftigkeit eine wesentlich größere Bedeutung. Eine sexuelle Funktionsstörung beeinträchtigt nicht nur die sexuelle Lusterfahrung oder die Reproduktion, sondern auch die Beziehung in besonderer Weise. Ein umfassender Behandlungsansatz erfordert daher die Berücksichtigung der Beziehungsdimension.
