Abstract

Esophageal strictures are uncommon in children. Noninvasive management of esophageal strictures is based on the same principles in children as in adults though there is much less published literature in pediatric practice. Bougienage and balloon dilation are effective and preferences of one technique over the other will depend on the situation. The major complication is perforation and is related to the characteristics of the stricture itself.
