Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy, NY, 1963–1988

The first half of 1963 was used to wind-up work in Ithaca and to arrange for life in Troy. This involved the planning of the research for the spring term at Cornell and the summer and fall at RPI. It included the thesis work for the students finishing their degrees in Ithaca and the initial work to be started in Troy at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, RPI.1 As indicated on pages 7-6–7 and Figure 37 of Chapter 7, two PhD students (Arakawa and Bodily) remained at Cornell and finished their degrees in 1964 under my supervision; one, finished his MS (Sullivan), and one his BA (Jaffe). In June 1963, the latter two moved with me to RPI as graduate students.
