Zusammenfassung
Die diagnostische bronchoalveoläre Lavage (BAL) ist eine wenig invasive Methode zur Diagnostik bronchopulmonaler Erkrankungen. Es werden Zellen und Sekret aus den peripheren Atemwegen und Alveolen gewonnen. Die Differenzialzytologie (Makrophagen vs. Granulozyten vs. Lymphozyten vs. Eosinophile) erlaubt eine Einengung der Differenzialdiagnosen. Zusätzlich können bronchoalveoläre Zellen vom Zytologen beurteilt werden. Dies geschieht mikroskopisch, durch Färbungen und durch immunzytochemische Methoden. Bestimmte Befunde sind typisch für einzelne Krankheitsbilder.
