Zusammenfassung
Metatarsalefrakturen machen etwa die Hälfte aller Frakturen am Fuß aus und haben bei exakter Diagnostik und adäquater Behandlung generell eine sehr gute Prognose. Die Inzidenz der Metatarsalefrakturen liegt etwa um das Zehnfache höher als diejenige von Luxationsfrakturen des Lisfranc-Gelenks (Vuori u. Aro 1993). Dennoch sollte beim Vorliegen vermeintlich „isolierter“ Frakturen von einer oder mehreren Metatarsalebasen das Vorliegen eines Luxationsmechanismus im Lisfranc-Gelenk ausgeschlossen werden. Bei Kindern machen Metatarsalefrakturen sogar 61% aller Fußfrakturen aus, wobei der 5. Strahl mit 41% am häufigsten, der 1. Strahl mit 19% am zweithäufigsten frakturiert ist. Beim Erwachsenen war das Os metatarsale V in einer Serie von 684 Metatarsalefrakturen in mehr als der Hälfte der Fälle betroffen. Zwei Drittel der Verletzungen entstehen durch Niedrigenergietraumata, offene Frakturen liegen in nur etwa 1% der Fälle vor (Vuori u. Aro 1993).
