Zusammenfassung

Das Kapitel behandelt die Pathologie des disseminierten neuroendokrinen Zellsystems. Aufgrund seiner endokrinen Funktionen kommt es im Falle von Erkrankungen häufig zu einer inadäquaten Hormonsekretion mit entsprechender Symptomatik. Die hierfür verantwortlichen hyperplastischen und neoplastischen Veränderungen werden im Einzelnen besprochen. Darüber hinaus kommen die zahlreichen nichtsyndromatischen neuroendokrinen Neoplasien zur Sprache, wobei auf die unterschiedliche Prognose in Abhängigkeit von Primärlokalisation, Hormonproduktion, histologischer Differenzierung und Stadium eingegangen wird. Da im gastroenteropankreatischen System von neuroendokrinen Neoplasien gesprochen wird, in anderen Organen jedoch von Karzinoiden, wird explizit auf die nomenklatorischen Unterschiede bei den Tumoren hingewiesen.
