Abstract
Medical Physicist personnel is an integral part of cancer treatment. In Bangladesh Medical Physics education first started in the nineties. In 2000 a fullfledged “Department of Medical Physics and Biomedical Engineering” was founded at Gono Bishwabidyalay (a private university in Savar, Dhaka) In 2002, a collaboration project for our master course on medical physics was started between Gono University and Heidelberg University and the German Cancer Research Centre (DKFZ) with the financial support of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). In this paper the present status of this education, cooperation and future plan have been described elaborately. The problems and perspectives have been identified and some proposals have been made to achieve a better education standard as well as guidelines for the production of more medical physicists to combat the cancer disease.
