Zusammenfassung

Die Begriffe „interstitielle Laserkoagulation“ (ILK) bzw. „interstitial laser coagulation (ILC)“ sowie „laserinduzierte interstitielle Thermotherapie“ bzw. „laser induced interstitial thermotherapy“ (LITT) werden in der Literatur praktisch synonym verwendet (◘ Abb. 11.1–11.3). Im Hinblick auf den derzeitigen Wissensstand kann die interstitielle Lasertherapie der Prostata tatsächlich aufgrund zweier verschiedener Prinzipien klinisch wirksam sein. Diese unterscheiden sich allerdings nicht in der Art, sondern in der Ausdehnung der in der Prostata erzeugten Koagulationsnekrose.
