This chapter deals with two advanced topics of component-based grid programming: (1) automatic scheduling (i.e. , the mapping of application tasks to processing nodes), and (2) automatic parallelization of code. Both types of automatism are features that increase the degree of abstraction of a component technology and lead to user-transparency, i.e. , application programmers are less involved in technical details of the grid platform.
