Abstract
Contrary to most other jurisdictions, under German Law inventions and technical improvement proposals belong to the employee. The employer may, however, be able to claim these rights. Following such a successful claim, the rights belong to the employer and the employee will be entitled to a financial compensation. The rules governing inventions and technical improvement proposals are provided for under the German Act on Employee Inventions (Arbeitnehmererfindungsgesetz).
