Abstract

Lip augmentation has become one of the most frequently requested cosmetic enhancements. Full, sensual lips have become a hallmark of youth and attractiveness in both men and women and in most ethnic groups. Many techniques of lip augmentation have been developed from injectable liquid silicon to autologous fascia insertions. Despite the plethora of injectable fillers available today, none are specifically FDA approved for injection into the lips. Autologous fat transplantation or grafting is perhaps the best option for safe, non controversial, and potentially long term lip enhancement. The procedure is well tolerated by the patient and easily performed under local anesthesia in an office setting.
