Generalized Conforming Thin Plate Element III — Perimeter-Point and Least-Square Conforming Schemes

Abstract

This chapter discusses the last two groups of the construction schemes for the generalized conforming thin plate element: perimeter-point conforming scheme and least-square conforming scheme. Five triangular and rectangular element models formulated by these schemes are presented in detail. Numerical examples show that these generalized conforming models also exhibit excellent performance in the analysis of thin plates. Furthermore, the generalized conforming element theory is applied to verify or improve the convergence of two famous non-conforming element models, ACM and BCIZ, and some valuable conclusions are obtained.
