Zusammenfassung

Der Begriff Homograft setzt sich aus zwei Teilen Zusammen. „Homo“ bedeutet „gleichartig“ und kann mit dem Synonym „Allo“ ersetzt werden. Graft ist ein englischer Begriff, der ein Transplantat (= Implantation von Zellen, ganzen Organen oder Gliedmaßen) bezeichnet. Ein Homograft ist ein Gewebe, das von einem Individuum einer Art in ein Individuum derselben Art implantiert wird (Mensch zu Mensch). Im Gegensatz dazu wird der Begriff Xenograft für Gewebe verwendet, das von einer Art stammt und in ein Individuum einer anderen Art implantiert wird (Schwein, Rind zu Mensch). In der Herzchirurgie wird der Begriff Homograft im engeren Sinne für einen Pulmonalklappen- oder Aortenklappenhomograft verwendet. Ein Pulmonalishomograft ist eine von der rechten Herzkammer entspringende Lungenschlagader mit Herzklappe. Ein Aortenhomograft ist eine von der linken Herzkammer entspringende Aortenwurzel mit Aortenklappe inklusive des Aortenbulbus und der Aorta ascendens.
