Zusammenfassung
Die klinische Untersuchung des Larynx, insbesondere mit Hilfe der starren (90°) und der flexiblen Endoskopie, ermöglicht eine Beurteilung der Mukosa des Larynx. Damit ist frühzeitig eine pathologische Beeinträchtigung der Stimmlippenbeweglichkeit erkennbar. Submuköse Veränderungen entgehen in ihrer Gesamtausdehnung allerdings der klinischen Untersuchung. Sie lassen sich jedoch mittels Schnittbilddiagnostik erfassen. Wesentliche Domänen der Schnittbilddiagnostik sind:

Beurteilung der Tiefenausdehnung pathologischer Prozesse

Erkennung einer Mitbeteiligung des Larynxskeletts

Erfassung einer extralaryngealen Ausdehnung
-
Erkennung pathologischer Lymphknoten
In der Traumadiagnostik ist die CT zur Detektion von Larynxfrakturen unerlässlich. CT und MRT sind in der Diagnostik und Therapieplanung von Erkrankungen des Larynx etabliert und für die Operationsplanung inzwischen unverzichtbar.
