Abstract

Textile vascular prostheses were coated with amorphous diamond- like carbon (DLC) layers. The layers were created by pulsed laser deposition (PLD) in argon ambient. Depending on the deposition conditions the percentage of sp3 (“diamond”) content varied from ∼ 40 % to 60 %. In vivo tests were evaluated. Two types of coated vessels (more graphitic x more sp3 content) and reference ones were operated into into arteria carotis of sheep. Best results were obtained with more “diamond” layers, thickness of 20 nm.
