Zusammenfassung

Die Inzidenz der Magenkarzinome hat in den vergangenen Jahrzehnten deutlich abgenommen. Die Zahl der Todesfälle sank in den USA von 1930 bis 1985 von etwa 28 auf 5 von 100 000 Frauen und von 38 auf 7 von 100 000 Männern. Geographische Unterschiede sind bei der Inzidenz auffällig. Das Magenkarzinom ist in Asien (Japan, Korea und China) weitaus häufiger als in Europa oder Amerika.
