Abstract
Polytrauma is a syndrome of multiple injuries exceeding a defined severity (Injury Severity Score [ISS] ≥ 17) with sequential systemic reactions that can lead to dysfunction or failure of remote organs and vital systems, which have not themselves been directly injured.
