Quantum Theory of Magnetism

Abstract

The quantities which are central to the theory of magnetism such as the magnetic moment, the magnetization and magnetic susceptibility are introduced. The starting point for this are the Maxwell’s equations in matter. The chapter is concluded with a classification of magnetic materials based on their susceptibility.
