Du bist frustriert und schüttelst sie in Erregung und Wut.“ Schreien und resultierende Frustration ist der häufigste Grund für das gewaltsame Schütteln von Kleinkindern (Barr et al. 2006) und die Hauptursache der Misshandlung und Tötung von Kleinkindern (Barlow u. Minns 2000; National Center on Shaken Baby Syndrome: http://www. dontshake.org). Kinder, die das Schütteln überleben, haben häufig bleibende neurologische und Lernprobleme (Barlow et al. 2005).
